Nazim Hikmat
Be Naughty, That's Right.
Climb up sheer Walls,
Up towering trees.
Like an old captain let your hands direct
The course of your bicycle.
And with the pencil which draws the cartoons
Of the master of religious Knowledge,
Demolish the pages of the Koran.
You must know how to built your own paradise
On this black soil.
With your Geology text book
You must silence the man who teaches you
The creation began with Adam.
You must recognize
The importance of the Earth,
You must believe
That the earth is eternal
Distinguish not you between your mother
And your mother Earth.
You must love it
As much as you love her.
Nazim Hikmat was a Turkish Poet who had spent 35 years in jail because he was a Communist.
